scrub it & flex it is a therapeutic series of products intended for the comprehensive care of hooves:
The unique STEP BY STEP formula and the combination of natural substances with moisturizing, oiling, regenerating and nourishing properties ensure proper development and growth of the hoof horn. The scrub it & flex it line has been designed so that, regardless of the cause of the weakening of the hoofs, it restores the correct degree of hydration and flexibility.
These products DOES NOT CONTAIN substances approved by the FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale) for doping substances indicated in the 'Equine Prohibited Substances List' (EPSL). |
scrub it is a deeply cleansing and smoothing therapeutic hoof scrub. The product is based on mineral peeling particles, which, combined with a nourishing base, effectively cleanse and smooth the surface of the hoof. The peeling perfectly enhances the natural color of the hoof without the use of additional dyes, prevents dirt and mud from sticking, and prepares the hoof for further care, facilitating the penetration of active substances into the hoof horn.
The effectiveness of the scrub it was confirmed by examining the change in the smoothness of the hoof surface using a roughness gauge. The study was performed on 3 horses, 4, 10 and 16 years old. The product was used once a week for 5 weeks. The results were related to the original condition of the hoof. After this period, a significant increase in the smoothing of the hoof surface was observed (over 60%), as well as a reduction in the number of scratches and surface cracks.
To ensure comfort of use, it is available in the form of a therapeutic ointment or an occlusive oil, depending on the user's application preferences.
APPROPRIATE CARRIER OF ACTIVE SUBSTANCES
To restore the desired properties of the hoof, the basis of success was the development of an appropriate quality composition of the base ingredients and their proportions. The carrier of active substances is a combination of lanolin, castor and rapeseed oils, pine resin, and in the ointment also beeswax. Such a composition provides long-lasting hydration and elasticity of the hoof horn thanks to the creation of an outer protective layer. The breathable film on the surface prevents the loss of water naturally contained in the hoof, normalizes its level and gradually releases the active substances contained in the product.
flex it line support the regeneration and nourishment of the hoof. Thanks to the use of pine resin, rich in resin acids (rheinic acid, e.g. abietic acid, pimaric tannins, flavonoids, vitamin C, phenolic acids), the hoof becomes more resistant to harmful external factors, and a natural protective barrier is created on its surface.
The high content of lanolin, which is a valuable mixture of fatty acid esters with sterols, especially cholesterol, nourishes, moisturizes and tones the hoof. Due to its composition, it also shows excellent ability to transport active nutrients deep into various tissues, and protects the hoof against water loss. In the case of cracked and brittle hooves, it supports and accelerates their regeneration, and also prevents abnormal hoof keratinization.
The presence of rapeseed oil, rich in vitamins A, D, E and K, omega-3 and omega-6 monounsaturated fatty acids in a unique 2: 1 ratio (omega-6 to omega-3) ensures proper growth and structure of the hoof horn.
Hoof elasticity was tested on 20 mm long and 5 mm wide hoof samples collected during the farriering of horses. Each sample was dried, and after testing each sample was dried to constant weight for moisture determination. The samples were obtained from the front hooves (left, right) in the following colors: white (3), dark (4) from the front wall. Raw samples were tested (without the use of scrub it & flex it), then, for 6 weeks, the hooves were subjected to regular care with the scrub it.
In our products, we focus primarily on safety and effectiveness. An important factor in the selection of raw materials is also their degree of naturalness. That is why we chose lanolin as the main base ingredient, not petroleum jelly, because lanolin is a natural lubricant and has an excellent ability to transport active nutrients into various tissues.
In order to confirm the effect of normalizing the hydration of the hoof horn, in-vivo hydration kinetics studies were carried out. The study was conducted on three types of hooves:
a) properly moistened;
b) desiccated;
c) soggy.
Hoof hydration was measured before and during flex it application, measuring every 6 weeks by taking clippings from the outer layers of the hoof horn.
The results of the study show that the level of hydration was effectively normalized in all types of hoofs tested. flex it ointment allowed to bring both hooves with an abnormal level of hydration to the correct hoof condition and maintain this condition.
The improvement in the condition of the outer layer of the hoof was determined by examining the hoof keratinization on the anterior wall. Horses with normal hooves with a moisture content of 29.5% ± 2.0% RH were selected for the study. The integrity of the hoof surface was assessed using an adhesive patch applied to the front wall of the hoof below the coronet band. flex it oil was applied every 72 hours. The measurement was performed every 14 days.
The results of the study show that the keratinization of the examined hooves is effectively normalized and their structure is strengthened.
flex it line also provide multidirectional antimicrobial activity. The use of a composition of natural oils, lanolin and resins restores the natural bacteriostatic balance of the hoof, especially its sole, thus preventing the development and colonization by pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Due to the high content of phenolic acids (rosemary, cinnamic, caffeic), flavonoids (rutin, hesperidin, ericitrin) and, above all, menthol, in combination with thymol, peppermint oil protects the hoof against infections and harmful external factors. The synergistic effect of appropriately selected ingredients supports antimicrobial properties (including antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial properties), making the hoof more resistant to secondary infections (including anaerobes of the Fusobacterium family causing thrush).
